FAQs

Why has my practitioner chosen a professional product for me?

Cyto-Matrix is a professionally branded product line, exclusively. All our products have been developed in consultation with licenced health professionals (ie) naturopathic and/or medical doctors and chiropractors, so that they meet the very unique needs of patients. Many of these patients have high sensitivities or poor digestion. Commonly used lubricants (such as magnesium stearate, stearic acid and ascorbal palmitate) may be difficult for those with dysfunctional digestion to break down. Some binding agents, as used in tablets, for example, may prove difficult for those with sensitivities or allergies. Cyto-Matrix products are manufactured without the use of these agents. Our product formulations are also of a high standardization and the combination formulas are very unique to Cyto-Matrix. The ingredients typically target a specific health issue, as opposed to a formula designed for the mass market. Our policy to distribute products only through licensed professionals also aids in ensuring that the right product is prescribed to the right patient in the right dosage. Your health practitioner has knowledge of your medical history, other medications, allergies etc., which helps to ensure the products are used in the safest manner.

What does "standardization" mean?

"Standardization" is the process built into production and quality control procedures to ensure that a consistent and reproducible level of active ingredients is obtained from each dose of herb. For example, two products may both have 125mg of Oregon Grape Extract. However, if one focuses on the active constituent of berberine in the Oregon Grape Extract, one product may contain a lower percentage of berberine. The result is a lower amount of the active ingredient which is intended to produce a desired effect. The Cyto-Matrix Oregon Grape extract is standardized to 97% berberine, which is a very high level of active ingredient. The advantages of standardization are as follows:

  • High quality extracts with consistent activity
  • Consistent activity allows for more accurate prescribing
  • Consistent activity allows for consistent clinical results

What are botanicals?

A botanical is a plant or plant part valued for its medicinal or therapeutic properties, flavor, and/or scent. Herbs are a subset of botanicals. Products made from botanicals that are used to maintain or improve health may be called herbal products, botanical products, or phytomedicines.

In naming botanicals, botanists use a Latin name made up of the genus and species of the plant. Under this system the botanical black cohosh is known as Actaea racemosa L., where "L" stands for Linneaus, who first described the type of plant specimen.

I understand that Canada now regulates natural health products, what does this mean for Cyto-Matrix?

Cyto-Matrix Inc. is 100% committed to strict adherence to the guidelines set forth by Health Canada's Natural Health Products Directorate. Our products are manufactured in a state of the art facility which holds a valid site licence. Site licences became mandatory under the new regulations, as of December 31, 2005. We have internal expertise on staff to ensure that we achieve the target dates for compliance set forth by the Natural Health Products Directorate.

Where can I find information about the Canadian regulations for natural health products?

You can access the Natural Health Products Directorate at Health Canada at the following website: www.healthcanada.ca/nhpd

What is the source of your capsules?

All our capsules are made from a vegetable source.

Once I am prescribed your products from my practitioner, can I re-order directly from you?

No, the re-order of products is only through your licensed practitioner, or in some cases through a selected pharmacy, where they are kept behind the counter at the request of your practitioner. This ensures there is an ongoing interface between you, as a patient, and the health professional, which allows for continuing evaluation and optimal safety.

If I need further information about my condition or your products, should I contact the Cyto-Matrix office?

You may contact the Cyto-Matrix office through the website or your practitioner if you require information/confirmation about specific ingredients ie) for persons with allergies to certain botanicals etc., or if you require information about where to obtain our products in the event you re-locate, for example.

Cyto-Matrix will not make any statements or provide advice on your specific medical condition, as this is best evaluated by a health care practitioner, who is familiar with your full health profile.

How can I be assured that your products are pure?

The core of Cyto-Matrix Inc. governing principles is to ensure that we operate under the highest ethical standards. In this regard, we must always stand behind our words. Upon the request from your health care professional, we will provide the 3rd party assays on our products. These are the scientific analyses of our products which document the absence of impurities, and also the exact content of each ingredient in the capsule.

Are you a Canadian Company?

Yes! We are 100% Canadian. All operations are Canadian based, from the principals of the company to the manufacturing and distribution. With our focus on Canada, we ensure that we have an up-to-date and thorough knowledge of Canadian regulatory guidelines, professional association needs, patient needs, and institutional needs.
